Bunks 1 & 2 (ages 4-6) learned how to draw portraits and colored and painted them with oil pastels and watercolors, creating a very goofy, revolting version of a self portrait based on the song from the Matilda musical and the way Ms. Trunchbull describes all children.

Model magic newts
Inspired by both the newt scene in Matilda and Mexican gecko tiles, campers molded adorable newts out of model magic and painted them with acrylic paint when they dried. In the end, we tiled them together to look like Mexican tiles.
Wormwood motors cars for sale
Bunk 1 campers traced, cut, painted and glue these adorable cars together. Some campers also painted and decorated toilet paper tubes to make adorable race cars.
Kindergarten abstract art
Bunk 1 painted their white papers with beautiful liquid watercolors then stamped black circles with on top to create beautiful abstract art pieces for the gallery. I love how bright the liquid watercolor contrasts with the black paint.
Colorful parrots
At camp this summer, campers (ages 4-12) spent the entire 8 weeks preparing for an amazing performance of the Matilda musical in the last week. My job as the art teacher was to connect all of our art to Matilda.
Bunk 1 (ages 4 and 5) created colorful parrots to represent the parrot that Matilda hid in her parents fireplace in the book. They painted, cut and glue them together and we hung them in the room, and later the gallery. They turned out spectacular!

Matilda Art Exhibit
The last 4 weeks of summer camp at Allen's Lane Art Center were focused on "Matilda" because the kids performed an unbelievable Matilda musical at the end of camp. The art gallery exhibits all of the artwork the campers created in weeks 4-8 of camp, including the mural, which was later placed inside of the historic building.
