Delicious ripped paper cupcakes

Bunks 4 and 5 created these adorable ripped paper cupcakes. First, they painted a warm colored paper, then painted a small piece of cool colored paper to create extra texture. Then, they cut out and ripped recycled papers and newspapers to create these delicious cupcakes.

Some campers also drew these cute cupcake trays with oil pastels when they finished their cupcakes.

Crunchem Hall setting paintings

Bunk 6 and 7 (ages 10-12) drew and painted with tempera paints their own version of Matilda's "Crunchem Hall"

Costume class

In preparation for the Matilda musical, we had to design and create costumes. We drew and then painted ties on canvas for all of the students at Crunchem Hall. We also had a Crunchem Hall logo contest, and the winners logo was painted by every camper on the front and back of their jackets with a stencil. Mr. Wormwood's tacky jacket was a special job, as it was hand-painted with a tacky plaid style to go with his tacky personality.

A good book with a warm drink

Campers, ranging from all ages, drew either a pile of books with a warm drink on top (because Matilda loved to curl up in her bedroom with a book and hot chocolate) or a pile of cute teacups. They traced their drawings with sharpies then painted them with watercolor.

Dominican Artists Art Exhibit

The 2016 Art Exhibit was a great success! Every student from Nido (age 1) to 8th grade contributed their art in our exhibit. Each grade was inspired by a different artist and created individual paintings, group murals or sculptures to represent their Dominican artist. Visitors also had fun signing the chalkboard, creating drawings or coloring pages based on the artists, and sketching out the art that they saw in the exhibit. The 7th and 8th graders had a surprise visit by 2 of their artists, Pote Leche and Angurria, who came to class to talk to students and saw the art that was based on them.
