Dominican Artists Art Exhibit

The 2016 Art Exhibit was a great success! Every student from Nido (age 1) to 8th grade contributed their art in our exhibit. Each grade was inspired by a different artist and created individual paintings, group murals or sculptures to represent their Dominican artist. Visitors also had fun signing the chalkboard, creating drawings or coloring pages based on the artists, and sketching out the art that they saw in the exhibit. The 7th and 8th graders had a surprise visit by 2 of their artists, Pote Leche and Angurria, who came to class to talk to students and saw the art that was based on them.

Today in Nursery, each student got to practice cutting. We talked about what scissors are used for, how to be careful, and practiced holding them. Then, each student got a piece of yellow paper and cut freely, making all different shapes. They glued together their cut-outs to make a piece of abstract art. I am super impressed with their cutting skills, they all did a really great job!
