5th Grade one point perspective drawing

5th graders learned the concept of perspective, particularly one point perspective. They created a vanishing point in the center of their paper, and drew organic objects like a park on the left, and city-like buildings on the right side. They learned that in one point perspective there are 3 types of straight lines: horizontal, vertical and to the vanishing point. It can get very difficult, especially with little things like windows and sidewalks, but they were patient and did an excellent job!

Cubist Picasso Portraits

6th and 7th graders having been learning about modern art and cubism- particularly with the influence of Pablo Picasso:

To create our own Picasso's, we played around on the website Picasso head: http://www.picassohead.com/create.html

And explored the different features in the faces he created using this chart:

Then they got to work. Some students used rulers, some drew freely. They colored their portraits using oil pastels. They turned out a bit brighter than a Picasso portrait, but they are self portraits.

Finger Puppets

Nursery students explored with textures, body parts, and clothing, creating adorable finger puppets to take home.

Nursery Turkeys

We prepared for Thanksgiving in Nursery by creating a large turkey for the class, as well as a personal turkey for each student using their hands and crayons.

For our large turkey, each student chose either orange or red paint to dip their hands in and add feathers to our turkey poster.

For the personal turkeys, students used stamp ink to dip their hand in and use the shape of their hand as the body, feathers and head of the turkey. They filled in details after with crayon.
