5th grade watercolor sunsets
5th graders used crayon and watercolor to create these warm and cool colored sunsets. We learned about foreground, middle-ground and background, as well as some new watercolor skills.
Salvador Dali inspired Surrealist paintings
my 7th & 8th Grade Art elective class learned all about surrealist artist Salvador DalĂ, on eo fmy personal favorites. We looked at a lot of his work and analyzed many of the pieces. Instead of simply re-creating a piece of Dali's art, they told a short fantastical fictional story (each student said one sentence), and painted it their own way. Below is our story and the paintings that accompanied it.

6th grade's Modern Art Museum
6th Graders visited the Museo de Arte Moderno to see the bi-annual art exhibit 28 Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales. While they were at the museum they were assigned to choose a piece of art; painting, video, sculpture, mixed media, etc.; and sketch it with pencil. In class, they brought their sketches to life. Some students re-created the piece using their own materials; some used the piece as inspiration to make something completely different. We then created our own modern art museum in the auditorium. Parents and other students were invited to see the art and meet and greet with the artists. It was a fun, enjoyable project, and interesting to see so many different takes on different inspiration pieces. The pieces are shown with a printout of the original artwork below it.
