Elementary and Middle School Mural Art Exhibit

The past few weeks students in Elementary and Middle school have been working so hard on creating one mural per class to display in this year's art exhibit. First, each class was given a theme in chronological order, telling the story of Christmas through time. Each student sketched and colored their own ideas, and at the end of class we voted on our favorite sketch. In some cases, 2 or 3 sketches won, so we combined elements of multiple sketches into our final. The next class, we put our final sketch onto a giant piece of mural paper, and began painting. It was great to see so many students work together. Every student was able to contribute and should be proud to say; "That's my classes' mural."

Pre-K Christmas tree ornaments

Pre-K will be adding their own Christmas tree ornament to their Christmas trees this year. They used foam paper, beads, jewels and snowflake stars to create adorable ornaments that they will be proud to share with their families.

Snowman ornaments

Kindergartners created adorable snowman face ornaments. They used white magic clay to make the circle-shaped face of the snowman, then poked a hole and added string so it could hang on the tree. Then, they put their thumbs in red ink to create the snowman's rosy cheeks. They added beads for eyes and eyelashes, and carefully used a stick to create a dot pattern for the mouth. In order to create the carrot nose, they mixed two primary colors, red and yellow, to create the secondary color orange. They shaped their newly made orange clay into a nose and stuck it on their snowman for the finishing touch.

I hope these can decorate their Christmas trees for years to come!

Object drawing

The high-school students chose a real-life object to bring to class and draw in 9 different perspectives: zoomed in or out, the bottom, the top, and any angle they could think of. They colored them with colored pencil when they finished.
